Collection Instructions
Routine venipuncture
Transport Container
2 mL screw-cap tube
Methodology
In vitro nucleic acid amplification test for the quantitation of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in human serum or plasma (EDTA)
Clinical Significance
Intended for use as an aid in the management of patients with chronic HBV infection undergoing antiviral threapy. Used to measure baseline levels and during treatment to aid in assessing response to treatment. Assay performance characteristics have been established for individuals treated with adefovir dipivoxil. Performance for determining the state of HBV infecion has not been established.
