Clinical Significance
Decreased levels-negative APR (acute phase reactants) in response to inflammation, necrosis, or malignancy, chronic liver diseasse, malnutrition, nephrotic syndrome, protein-losing enteropathies, iron overload due to multiple transfusion or hereditary hemochromatosis, and congenital atransferrinemia. Elevated levels-iron deficiency anemia, increased estrogen due to pregnancy, oral contraceptives
